History
My love of trains started back in the 1950's when I asked Santa for an American Flyer train set (I didn't want any of that unrealistic Lionel 3 rail track!). My reward for being good that year was a switch engine (GP -7/9) in Union Pacific colors. I almost wore out the set, putting it together and doing many different layouts in the basement. But as I got older, sports and girls seemed to hold my attention better and the train set, which wasn't getting a lot of play time, disappeared from the basement.
Now some 40 years later, after a little medical problem (small stroke behind my right eye which is now back to normal) my doctor said, "You need a hobby besides just work!" When I looked back, one of the more enjoyable time I had was playing with trains, so "I'm back!" and having more fun than ever because now I can afford more than one engine and 20 pieces of track AND everything is outside where there is room to grow !
